The translator holds a PhD in Translation Studies and is currently affiliated with Guangdong
Medical University in China, where courses in interpreting and English for specific purposes are
taught. Academic training and professional experience are grounded in translation and interpreting
education, with a particular focus on cross-cultural communication in medical, educational, and
humanities-related contexts. Over the years, sustained attention has been given to the effective
communication of specialized knowledge across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
Research interests include interpreter training, interpreting pedagogy, and multimodal
approaches to English teaching. Particular attention is paid to the ways in which linguistic, visual,
and contextual resources can be coordinated to support the communication of specialized and
culturally embedded knowledge. This academic focus has informed both teaching practice and
research, especially in relation to the international communication of traditional Chinese medicine
(TCM) and Chinese classical studies.
The translator has co-authored two academic monographs and published a number of research
articles in the fields of translation and interpreting education. In addition, a textbook on medical
interpreting has been compiled, contributing to the training of interpreters working in healthcare and
medical communication. These academic and pedagogical experiences have helped shape an approach
to translation that values terminological accuracy, conceptual clarity, and sensitivity to cultural context.
In translating the present volume, the translator draws on a background in translation studies,
interpreting pedagogy, and medical humanities to address the challenges posed by texts that are
both conceptually rich and culturally specific. Particular attention has been given to the rendering
of key terms, classical references, and theoretical expressions related to TCM and Chinese
classical studies. The translation seeks to preserve the intellectual structure and cultural logic of
the source text while making it accessible to international readers.
